Expert says SEO could evolve
While search engine optimisation (SEO) as is currently understood by internet marketers is becoming increasingly obsolete, it could well evolve into something new, an industry expert has claimed.
Writing on the marketingpilgrim.com site, Roderick Ioerger said that many other bloggers had recently commented on the demise of SEO in its current form.
"No one disagrees that SEO is evolving, whether what we see as today's SEO will be around in the same format two years from now is still open for debate," he wrote.
Mr Ioerger added that he particularly agreed with Dutch SEO expert Joost de Valk, who stressed in a recent blog post that there was a difference between making money now from established practises and trying to guess what would happen in the future.
"Many marketers looking to the future, jump on the next bandwagon long before the old reliable one has started to show any real signs of failing," Mr Ioerger explained.
"It seems like a disservice to yourself and or the clients you work with if you give up on a technique that still works to adopt a new one that hasn't yet matured as an effective marketing tool, yet many internet marketers, and SEOs more specifically, are jumping off of the bandwagon when they see future, but long before it has arrived."
