Google launches mobile image ads
Google's mobile ads team have said they are ready to roll out mobile image ads.
Writing on the Google Mobile Blog, Alexandra Kenin, the search engine's product marketing manager for mobile ads, explained that the new products looked exactly like those typically for desktop web pages, but added that they were now small enough to fit on mobile screens.
What's more, he explained that the new ads "run on the mobile content network".
Mr Kenin added: "For advertisers, mobile image ads serve as a branding tool and have shown to have good clickthrough rates.
"Advertisers using mobile image ads will also benefit because we only show one image ad per mobile page. For publishers, mobile image ads provide added flexibility. They can now choose to show text ads, image ads, or a mix of both.
"Publishers who are already using AdSense for mobile content just need to update their AdSense code to start displaying mobile ads on their site."
In conclusion, Mr Kenin said that the new mobile image ads would be keyword-targeted and "priced on a cost-per-click basis".
