Google News improves search system

Google has revealed that it has added a new search feature to its News section.

The search engine's blog revealed that when Google News is used, the page will display a short list of related searches at the bottom of the results page.

According to the company, the new factility will better help users adjust and refine their searches and also offer "an interesting way to browse the news, perhaps finding connections between stories".

What's more, the company explained that the new search facility uses algorisms to provide its results.

It said: "As is normal for Google News, there are no human editors involved in selecting related searches; these suggestions are automatically generated based on an algorithm to determine terms related to your search."

Writing on the marketingpilgrim.com site, Jordan McCollum explained that she had tested the new Google search by typing 'Yahoo' into the system.

She wrote: "For kicks, I wanted to see what the related searches for 'Yahoo' were: online advertising, Google, Jerry Yang, Microsoft, AOL, and Yahoo Mail."ADNFCR-1536-ID-18582014-ADNFCR
