Google's paid click shows weak growth in March

Paid click figures from March have shown a consecutively disappointing month for Google.

ComScore figures, release last night (April 15th), show that there was a 2.7 per cent increase in the number of people in the US clicking on Google's search ads.

However, this means an increase of just 1.8 per cent growth for the first quarter on the same period in 2007, in sharp contrast to the figures for the fourth and third quarters of last year: 25 per cent and 48 per cent respectively.

Google also saw its share of the global web search market drop in February compared to the previous month.

UK advertisers are reportedly preparing to bid for keywords when new Google rules come into force on May 5th which will mean that advertisers will have to compete with rivals for their brand names.

Robin Auld, Domino's director of sales and marketing, told Brand Republic: "It's going to be like the Wild West for search advertisers."ADNFCR-1536-ID-18553860-ADNFCR
