Online advertising revenues rocket in fourth quarter

Internet advertising revenues reached an estimated $21.1 billion in 2007, a 25 per cent increase on the previous year.

The data, released by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers showed the fourth quarter of last year achieving the highest revenues ever recorded, with a total of $5.9 billion.

This was a 24 per cent rise with the same quarter in 2006, and a 13 per cent rise on the previous quarter of 2007.

"Interactive media continue their unabated growth," said Randall Rothenberg, president of the IAB.

"There is no media as measurable as interactive, and they provide products and services at the precise moment a consumer desires them. I applaud the industry on maintaining this extraordinary momentum of innovation, which has fundamentally changed the way we live today."

The IAB represents more than 375 leading interactive companies who are responsible for selling over 86 per cent of all online advertising and internet marketing in the US.ADNFCR-1536-ID-18485578-ADNFCR
