Online publishers report revenue growth
The UK's online publishers experienced revenue growth of more than 50 per cent in 2007.
That is according to the latest census of the members of the Association of Online Publishers (AOP), which revealed that the members questioned reported an increase of 52 per cent last year when compared to 2006.
Respondents to the census were also very optimistic about the way business will go this year, with growth of eight per cent predicted, while digital is expected to grow by an impressive 31 per cent.
The Guardian Media Group, the BBC, Centaur Media and BSkyB are all members of the AOP.
Ruth Brownlee, director of the organisation, said that members seem prepared to "take on the challenges and opportunities" which are steadily becoming available as a result of technology and the take up of broadband.
She explained: "They are embracing new platforms and formats for the future and are investing in getting the right people to make this happen within their organisations."
Members of the AOP cited streaming content, user-generated content and behavioural targeting as being among the "key areas of opportunity".
