UK's top search for brands revealed
The UK's most popular websites in over 50 industries have been revealed in a list released by online competitive intelligence company Hitwise.
The report represents data collected between January and December 2007 and also includes a list of 'Most Searched-For Brands' over the year.
Topping the rankings for social networking and forums was www.bebo.com, while www.lloydstsb.com came first in the list of banks and financial institutions, followed by www.avon.uk.com for beauty and www.telegraph.co.uk for print news and media.
The most searched for brand in the UK last year was eBay, followed by bebo in second place, youtube in third and facebook in fourth. Myspace (5th), argos (6th) and amazon (7th) followed, with you tube (8th), bbc (9th) and tesco (10th) making up the top ten.
"Website visits and searches provide an excellent measure of a website's success and brand popularity," said Daniel King, general manager for Hitwise UK.
"This is truly a people's choice award, as UK internet users have determined Hitwise UK's annual top websites and online brands. Each of our award winners have been recognised by UK consumers as leaders in their category."
